Material: Steel and chestnut wood (Daisy)
Arion de Munck (1984) is a young artist with a background in graphics and a passion for wood and music. He started a programme in Music Production and Performance at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2005. In 2007, he started a Graphic Design course at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), graduating in 2011. He developed into a versatile designer, who incorporates spatial elements into graphic concepts in his search for a fusion of materials, image and sound. This can be seen in many of his audiovisual installations, including his graduation project ‘Square and Round’ (2011), which has been exhibited at various arts festivals (such as Today’s Art, The Hague). On graduating, Arion started work as a graphic designer in Studio KABK, responsible for all the Academy’s graphic communication in the 2011-2012 academic year (together with Tony van Nierop). Arion also worked as a freelance graphic designer during his student days, and continues to do so today. In late 2012, Arion and Mark Ridder came up with the LightPiano. This was the start of Kleurbleur, a design company set up by Arion, Mark Ridder and Tom Laan. The company already boasts several large-scale successes.
